“Sinterklaas” present

Pack ice near Edgeoya, Spitsbergen

In the Netherlands its custom to give each other presents on the 5th of December. This year I decided to give myself a present. Since I saw this movie by Paul Nicklen, I wanted to have his new book, “Polar Obsession“.

Well, Sinterklaas came a little early and today I received the book. And I’m really impressed. A large size, 240 pages in full colour and stunning pictures. Paul Nicklen is raised in the Canadian Arctic and here his obsession for Polar areas started. As a result of this, a lot of the pictures are taken in Nunavut, Canada, but there are also many from Spitsbergen and of course his Antarctic encounter with his Leopard Seal is included. Apart from the many pages with his great pictures, there are also some stories about the places he has visited or of his experiences in those places. The book shows pictures of landscapes and wildlife both above and under water, showing the polar areas in all its glory.

All in all a really nice book to browse through and to dream away with, taking you to those nicest places of this world. So, highly recommended if you still need to buy something as a present (or for yourself).
