Dirty miner

When you play around in the sand, you get dirty. This mining bee had just tried to dig a hole and came out a little dirty. This isn’t only true for the bees, but also for the photographer. To make these pictures I had to lay down on the sand. Approaching the bees very careful (otherwise they fly away) makes you crawl through the sand. When I came home I found sand everywhere…

The place where I take these pictures is a sand area surrounded by forest. This area is very popular by families to come and play with their young children or walk with their dogs. Laying on your belly for an hour with a big lens always attracts a lot of attention. I always try to avoid the sunday afternoons there, but today the weather was too nice to stay indoors.
