Inquisitive animals

Walrusses up close

Walruses are strange animals. I’ve never heard anybody say they are cute and on land they are even really boring. They just lay there, moving very slow and clumsy, smelling bad, scratching themselves now and then and occasionally looking up.

In the water they are totally different. There they are in their own element, can be rather fast and can be really inquisitive. Especially if you are standing just a little in the water and start kicking some stones around. For some reason this attract their attention and makes them come closer to you. Then they are looking at you, sniffing, sometimes being a little scared, sometimes daring a little more and coming even closer. During these meetings between nature and mankind one wonders who is the most curious one, the wild mammal or the human….

In the movie one can see this curiosity, together with the scratching in the water.
