Back home in the Netherlands, I had hoped to catch a little bit of summer before autumn would start here as well. No such luck… It has been stormy all week and the past days it has rained heavily. In certain places, more rain fell in one day as normally in the whole month… In the Achterhoek, the part of the country where I was born, the water levels in all rivers are very high. Here an image of the Berkel with a sign warning canoers for a dam, pointing them to a place where they can get out of the water. Completely flooded of course…

To take this picture I had to walk a bit on the grass area on the side of the river, a place which is normally completely dry. Now the water was knee-deep…
