Meet Geert. Geert is from Egypt, an Islamic country… He isn’t very well-integrated, he doesn’t mix with local birds, just hangs around a hotel looking for food scraps (or insects). Some people think that Geert should go back to his own country. To be able to identify him, they put a ring around his leg.

Not me. I like Geert. He is a really nice bird, nice black and white, not too shy and of course very rare. On our way to Heligoland we made a detour to visit him. I would love to welcome Geert in the Netherlands and I’m sure many birders agree with me… Here a short video (sorry for the boring place of the bird, but we didn’t have much time or we would miss the ferry to Heligoland).
