Nature conservation and awareness

The Outdoor photography magazine named the 40 most influential nature photographers of our time. I’m not in it of course, but it’s great as an inspiration. What pictures do they make? What motivates them? What is their philosophy? It’s good to see that many top photographers use their pictures for a nature conservation cause. Often photographers (especially top photographers) are fortunate enough to visit special places, see special animals and often these places and animals are under threat. By showing these pictures to the general public, the create awareness for these animals, hopefully resulting in a broader support for nature conservation.

And of course these pictures can serve as inspiration for other photographers. I can spent hours reading and watching pictures in the Polar Impressions book by Paul Nicklen or in the Wild Wonders of Europe book. Not with the intention to copy those pictures, but to get new ideas for my own.

With my own pictures, I also hope to inspire people and to create awareness for the fragile Arctic ecosystems… I hope I succeed…
