Waiting for fish

Grey Heron

Last weekend I went to the “Zuiderzeemuseum” in Enkhuizen. This open air museum shows the old fishing culture around the former Zuiderzee (now IJsselmeer). Eel  smokehouses are also part of this culture. Now on its way of becoming an endangered species, Eels used to be common and an important catch for the fishermen. The eel smokehouse in the museum attracts many visitors, waiting for some fish to be ready. This Grey Heron also had a look and hoped for a little something.
