the Taiga

the endless coniferous forest

A week from now I’ll be in Finland, close to the Russian border. I’ll be sitting in a hide waiting for the large predators of the taiga forest, the Brown Bear, Wolverine and Wolf. This weekend I got an e-mail from Ari (the guy who runs the hides) to inform me that they have several different Brown Bears every night, 4-6 times per week a Wolverine and 3 times per week a Wolf. Needless to say I’m really looking forward to it. In daytime I’ll be looking for lekking Capercaillie and/or Black Grouse and for different owls. Or I’ll just wander around in the forest, enjoying this endless forest of the north with its pleasant surprises.

I’ll keep you posted!!
