Beautiful Demoiselles are beautiful indeed. They also have a very specific habitat they use: relatively fast flowing forest streams. This is a habitat is not very common in the Netherlands, neither is the demoiselle. Since the previous winter I’ve got an image in my mind with this species in its natural habitat. This weekend I planned to make this picture, unfortunately the weather didn’t coöperate. Showers, not much sun and only 17°C, not the best weather for demoiselles. They were present, but were resting in the vegetation along the stream for most of the time. Not ideal for my purpose. This one was sitting a little higher, enabling me to take a picture a bit from below. I placed it against an open patch in the canopy, creating the impression of a spotlight on the Beautiful Demoiselle.
