Small Spreadwing

Pictures of dragonflies are often made from the side or from above. This way you can get the whole dragonfly in focus, from the eyes to the abdomen. This often works out nice, as I’ve shown in other pictures, but this also results in similar pictures all the time. So it also pays to get a different point of view sometimes. This Small Spreadwing sat down in the grass in front of me. As a participant from the workshop was already sitting on the side of the damselfly, I decided to stay and take a picture from the front. The eyes in focus and the other parts out of focus, but just sharp enough to be recognizable.
