Exactly one month ago I took this picture of the Negribreen. While we were enjoying this spectacular glacier an enormous tragedy took place on the other side of this glacier. A British youth organization was camping near the Von Postbreen and was attacked by a Polar Bear. Due to a lot of bad luck and failing material a 17-year-old boy was killed while 4 others, two of them leaders of the group, got seriously injured.

Of course, I know things like this can happen, but incidents like this make you realise again you’re really in Polar Bear country. This incident was only the fifth lethal accident in 40 years (with 120 bears being killed in the same period).
Taking good precautions can minimise the risk, but this tragedy shows that it can never really be ruled out.

  • Hello Arjen,

My name is Catherine, I’ve been reading Natureview Photography and I’m impressed by the clean presentation and great quality your blog has. I like your writing style and the beautiful photographs you feature, this one in particular, such an overwhelming landscape. You have an interesting world portrayed here.

That is why I would love to add your blog in the blog directory that I admin. It’s a high web traffic, Page Rank 5 blog directory named Blogdire,, it’s visit count grows exponentially every day and has high quality gained by listing great blogs like yours, because it does not have advertisement nor pop-ups.

Having your blog listed in my directory, will definitely improve it’s page rank in search engines, (like Google), and you will have many visits to leave nice comments and feedback, and of course, more people to enjoy your blog and share your interests.

In exchange of becoming part of the directory, all I ask is a simple link to my other site, I can assure you, the operation is extremely simple and there is no money involved.

Let me know if you are interested and what you think.

    Kind regards,

    • Hello Cathy

Thanks for the compliments on my blog. Always nice to hear it’s being appreciated. About the link exchange, as you probably have seen, I don’t really have a link-page on my site. So I’m afraid I don’t have the place to put a link somewhere.

      Kind regards
