Long-eared Owl

Sometimes things happen that you don’t expect. When you walk along the seashore you expect to find Sanderlings running up and down and to see some gulls flying by. Or even a Great Skua attacking those gulls. Other things you don’t expect. When that Great Skua had just passed, Leon pointed at something else coming from the sea. Judging by the way it flew it looked like an owl, not something one expects coming from sea… The first thought was a Short-eared Owl, a bird that is seen regularly in the dunes, but when it came closer it turned out to be a Long-eared Owl. It flew right over our heads and continued towards the island, leaving us behind, surprised.
