
Today seems to be international water day (got to have a day for everything, don’t you?). Well, in this picture there’s a lot of water. Of course the salt water in the fjord, but also the fresh water in the iceberg. This ice used to be on land, in the Greenlandic icecap, the second largest reservoir of fresh water in the world. It might have fallen as snow thousands of years ago, slowly drifting from the middle of the ice cap towards the edge. With a big bang it fell into the ocean and is now slowly melting away.
This makes for very nice photo opportunities of course, but it also causes a problem. With the heating climate more and more ice falls into the sea, raising the sea level more and more…
