Why should a picture be rectangular? Why can’t it be round? Well, because jpeg doesn’t support round images, but apart from that? This image shows the night sky over the Hoornse Dijk, from horizon to horizon. Today I got my 8-15mm fish-eye lens, with which I can take an even wider view. At 8mm you have an angle of view of 180 degrees all around, while the lens produces a “normal” rectangular image at 15mm (with still 180 degrees angle of view diagonally).
Now what uses does a lens of this has? Of course, it won’t be my most used lens. But in several occasions it’s great to have an as wide view as possible. For instance in buildings, or with very impressive wide landscapes e.g. the pack ice. In situations like that, this lens can produce very surprising and different results.
So I hope you can get used to round images…
This is a great technique and once again shows the power behind the different lens of a camera. Good shot.
