Some offices have better views as others, I know. My office at the moment has quite spectacular views and now and then something happens… On July 18th a lot of things happened… We started out on Sundneset, Bartensøya with a nice walk. After lunch we sailed towards Negribreen, a large glacier. On our way to the glacier we had several Fulmars flying alongside the ship. As I’ve already taken many “normal” flight pictures of Fulmars, I decided to try something different now. I used a small aperture and a low iso-value to create a relatively long shutter speed (around 1/40sec). The idea was to capture Fulmars in flight with the wings all blurry and its body in focus. Not the easiest task as it is hard to keep the lens steady for such a period while following the bird. To my great surprise above picture was only the 12th picture I tried… It was exactly what I had in mind! I’ve tried for quite a while afterwards, but never managed anything like this…
It’s hard work at the office!
