After we left Negribreen, we sailed towards a narrow strait between the main island of Spitsbergen and Barentsøya. Only the smaller ships can pass here and there is a really nice and special bay where we would spent the night. It’s nice if you can move your office like this, a little change of scenery now and then…
On our way to Heleysundet we saw a seal on the ice. It turned out to be a Ringed Seal. Normally these seals are really shy as they are the main dish for Polar Bears. But this seal was quite relaxed with our presence. We managed to come really close and this allowed me to take this picture. The animal was moulting its fur and one can clearly see the rings which gave it his name.
