
Suddenly, there it is! The ship slows down and when we look out of the windows we see the ice! Not too dense yet, but real sea ice!
The past two years I’ve been guiding on the Noorderlicht, which can’t handle too dense pack ice. So we never spent a full day in the ice. Now we could, which is always a really special experience. White as far as you could see (which in the morning wasn’t too far as it was quite foggy), and always the chance of finding some wildlife. Later during the day it cleared and it suddenly became really sunny. Even more spectacular!
