The first morning on the previous cruise, we were waiting for breakfast to be served when some Beluga were found along the shore. Well, some… When we turned the ship around to have a closer look, there were Beluga’s everywhere! We estimated that there were at least 50 whales swimming in front of the ship!
Belugas are high Arctic whales that nearly always hug the shoreline and are found in fjords. They look really funny, however one normally doesn’t get very good views on them. They don’t have a dorsal fin and don’t show their fluke, but even though it’s really exciting to see them. As the group was large, we could enjoy them for quite some time before they were gone. A really good start of the cruise!
Je ziet misschien niet veel van ze, maar wel mooi contrast zo wit tegen het blauw.
