Last year a new tradition was started on Birdpix, a Dutch website for bird photography. A group of users announced a contest where people have to make a picture of a relatively common bird species, the winner will be announced just before Christmas. Last year they chose the Magpie and this year the Pheasant. Normally I would just walk passed a Peacock and wouldn’t point my camera to it, but this changed things a little. I had just read the announcement of this contest on my phone, when this male Pheasant showed up somewhere in the dunes on Texel. I chose a low point of view, putting some vegetation in front of the bird, creating a bit a soft effect, with the bright colours of the Pheasant sticking out. I don’t know if I’m going to win, but I’m quite satisfied with the picture 🙂
Fantastic capture ! If only they were more common where I live.
