When I woke up this morning, I saw some small birds in the tree opposite of my window. When I looked closer, it turned out to be a mixed flock of Blackcaps, Lesser Whitethroats and Willow Warblers. For me the first time I saw these birds from my window and the first time this year I saw these summer visitors. So even before breakfast, I took out my camera and started looking at these birds. The trees just start to get leaves and there were a lot of insects to find apparently. It was nice to see the difference in behaviour between the Blackcaps and the Willow Warblers. The first methodically moved from branch to branch, while the latter moved without any pattern through the trees and flew up and down several trees all the time.
Here a picture of one of the female Blackcaps.
I think having to wait so long for spring must make it all the more precious.
