Arctic Weather

Phippsøya
Phippsøya

During the first days of the cruise we had great weather. Sunny, blue skies and relatively hot. It started to look like a proper summer holiday to me… Great of course, however we’re on an Arctic expedition cruise, so I always hope for at least one day with proper Arctic weather. This worked out nicely as one day when I looked out of my porthole in the morning I saw fresh snow on the mountains. Actually, there was even fresh snow on the top deck… After we dressed warmly, we set foot ashore on Phippsøya, one of the northernmost islands of the archipellago. This island is what a true Arctic landscape should look like. Rough mountains, lots of stones and only a few plants. We took the group ashore and let them experience the real Arctic. At the end of the cruise I heard many people say they really liked that landing, especially because of the conditions.
