The advantage of early spring is that cold blooded animals still need to bask in the sun to get warm enough to get active. Where dragonflies can be hard to approach, they now just sit and wait. Rudy Whitefaces often use birch trees for this. They can be found in high numbers on the white parts of the stem. Here are two individuals sitting close together.
