Polar Bears are solitary animals. The only time when they are together is during mating season. And of course do cubs stay little over two years with their mothers. But apart from that bears are solitary and roam around their home range, preferably on the pack ice. Occasionally, when they have enough food, they might share some. But most likely only with bears they know, ‘friends’ or relatives. And others are not invited…
At the end of the day, when all bears around had their private bit off the seal, three of them had a nice get together at the carcass, sharing what was left. The fourth bear however was not invited and had to wait at a distance.
The full story of this day, together with several other pictures can be found in my journal.
