From the fog

Chinstrap Penguins on Deception Island

A landing on Deception Island is always something special. First you have to enter the caldera through the narrow Neptunes Bellows, the small channel into the caldera. The landing beach is often quite warm due to the thermal activity. A bit of inland wind often creates some fog close to the ground. These Chinstrap Penguins seemed to suddenly appear from this fog near the landing site.
