
When we found the first Orca’s, the weather was really Arctic: grey, heavy snow and a fair bit of wind. This made taking pictures challenging, as it was difficult to keep the whales in view. When one of the larger males surfaced right next to the vessel, 600mm was a bit too much… All I could do was take a picture of the large dorsal fin before it disappeared under water, capturing the dynamic moment and speed of these animals.
