Hoping for a green flash

Sunset over the North Sea

As we sailed through the North Sea from Hansweert to Aberdeen, the skies cleared during the day.  Towards sunset most clouds had disappeared and we prepared for a nice sunset. For most of my Arctic season I won’t see any sunsets, so I took out my camera and had a look how nice it would get. While watching a sunset at sea one of the things people hope to see is the green flash, a very brief moment just before the sun disappears below the horizon where the sun turns green.

But as long as we waited and with all the shades of yellow, orange and red we saw, this time it never turned green… Well, maybe some other time, although the next months I won’t see any sunsets at all…
