When we’re sailing through the pack ice, we often find Kittiwakes resting on ice floes. They search for Polar Cod that they often find under the ice and every now and then they need a rest. But that rest is sometimes abruptly disturbed by Pomarine Skuas chasing them. Those skuas are not after the birds, but after their last consumed meal. The Kittiwakes immediately take off and some areal fighting takes place. Sometimes the Kittiwakes win, when the skuas give up after a while, sometimes the Pomarine Skuas win, when the Kittiwake throws up his last meal.
