
One of the nicest things you can see on the pack ice is a Polar Bear family with young that were born this year. Only 8 months old they’re still very playful and often are a bit behind mother. Mother on the other hand is a lot more careful and will normally not approach the ship too close as that might mean bringing the cubs in danger. Shortly after I took this picture, mother decided it could be too dangerous and she led her cubs to a bit a safer distance. We had no bad intent of course and were just waiting to see what mom would do, but that’s something she couldn’t know. And better be safe as sorry, also in this case.
