Bow rider

Ivory Gull

Sometimes nature keeps surprising. We had just returned from an awesome zodiac cruise in the pack ice and were waiting to get our zodiacs back in the ship, when an Ivory Gull showed up. Always nice of course, this high Arctic gull, but this one was better as usual. It showed a great interest in our zodiacs, flying around it all the time and even landing on the bow several times. Unfortunately the guests were already back on board, but that gave us the opportunity to enjoy this moment all by ourselves. First one of my colleagues was the fortunate one to have the bird fly around and sit on his zodiac and later it came to my boat for a visit. Really nice to be this close to one of the nicest high Arctic birds.
