
One of the things everybody always hopes for when there is a bear close to the ship is that he will jump from one ice floe to another. Action always works well in pictures. Getting a good shot isn’t that easy. You need to see the moment before it happens (otherwise you’re likely to be too late) and you need a bear fairly close to the ship…
In this case I had just arrived on the back deck (the lowest possible place to be outside on the Ortelius) and just had enough time to point my camera when this happened. You have to be lucky sometimes 🙂
