Changing seasons

Recherchebreen, Spitsbergen

In the Netherlands autumn has started, the warm summer temperatures are gone and slowly the trees get their autumn colours.

In the high Arctic this transition has been made long time ago. This picture I took last year around this time and as you can see the first snow is already in the icebergs. Temperatures are dropping and the first sea ice is appearing deep in the fjords.

For me it’s time to prepare for my second summer of the year. In 10 days I’ll leave for Antarctica. There spring is starting now, giving opportunities for us to show this magnificent world to tourists.
