As an expedition guide in Polar regions I do not get to spent a lot of time at home. Well, that depends on what you call home. Even though my apartment in the Netherlands is my official home, this ship, the Ortelius starts to feel more and more like home as well. For good reason, as I spent a lot of time on her. An expedition cruise ship, carrying little over 100 passengers and around 50 crew/staff, built to take us to the remotest places on Earth. Ice strengthened, having the highest ice class, a heli-deck to allow for helicopter operations to take us ashore on otherwise inaccessible places, she is very well equipped for her task.
