Gentoo Penguins at Foyn Harbour

These three penguins seemed to be part of a local gang. They clearly picked their home turf, an old rusty whaling ship at Foyn Harbour and were now hanging out overlooking their territory. Other penguins were not allowed, though they did allow Antarctic Terns to nest on their turf. But only because even these bad boys had some respect for the long pointed bills these birds have. When they saw us approach, they did their best to look as cool as possible with their characteristic black and white clothing. We of course didn’t approach them, you never know how a situation like that could end…
