Paradise is cold

Glacier in Skontorp Cove

If hell is hot (at least according to the general views), paradise may be cold. At least the Antarctic Paradise, the famous Paradise Harbour is cold. But a paradise it is, especially Skontorp Cove, just around the corner. For me this is my favourite place on the Antarctic Peninsula and possibly my favourite place on earth. A small bay, surrounded by huge mountains and spectacular glaciers (although retreating rapidly). We don’t find a lot of wildlife here, although there is an Antarctic Shag colony around the corner and there often are Crabeater and Weddell Seals hauling out on the ice. But just to sit there in the zodiac, engine off and enjoy this spectacular scenery makes you feel for a little while you might be in Paradise…

  • Hej, this photo makes it easy to understand what you feel. And to see that you made the right decision working as a fulltime guide. I’m looking forward to be back onboard of the Noorderlicht in 40 days 🙂
