One last post in the ‘looking back at 2016’-series. Another highlight for the past year for me were the trips I did in northern Norway on the Noorderlicht. We went there to find Humpback and Killer Whales at daytime and Aurora borealis at night. And we did! Finding the schools of Herring didn’t turn out to be very complicated (the fishermen pointed them out for us) and the whales showed up all the time. And at night… Each time we had a (partially) cloudless sky, we could see northern lights.
A super experience!!
Aurora borealis
When Frodo and Sam had left the fellowship behind and continued on their quest to destroy the ring of rings, they must have seen something like this. Mount Doom in the background and the ominous clouds of he who shall not named over the lands… It must have been very frightening for these little hobbits, who still continued their mission…
Just some thoughts I had when I took this picture of the Aurora borealis in northern Norway…
Looking forward to next eeek when I’ll be back on the Noorderlicht 🙂

I will! And this year I’m going to see whales instead of having a surprise-cruise to the Lofoten 🙂 But it was the best week of 2016!
