
As I wrote in the previous post, penguins are not best adapted for life out of the water. fortunately for them, there are not much predators on land, only some skuas and giant petrels that might steal eggs or attack chicks. In sea there are some more predators, like the Orca or Leopard Seal, but penguins are quite manoeuvrable and fast, so they stand a fair chance while being attacked by either of them. However, once they have to get in or out of the water and that’s when they are most vulnerable. Already a bit more clumsy, but still within reach of predators (mainly Leopard Seals). So they are always very careful while making that transition.
This Gentoo Penguin had swam along the shore for a while, after which he decided it was safe to come out. Now he quickly made its way to drier grounds, where he would be safe.
