Antarctica at its best – pt II

Ross Seal and Adelie Penguin

But our luck didn’t end there. While we were just trying to approach yet another Emperor Penguin, we found ourselves suddenly right next to a Ross Seal on an ice floe. Right next to our bow. First hidden behind some higher ice on the floe, later clearly visible. Super awesome to see this very special and true Antarctic seal for the first time. Rarely seen on the Peninsula, so there wasn’t much chance to see it before now. The captain immediately turned the ship around for another pass by the seal, so everybody could have a really good look at him. The Adelie that jumped on the same ice floe was just a nice bonus.
