Antarctic seals apparently get lost sometimes. They crawl inland and don’t know their way back anymore. Eventually this might lead to their death if they can’t find their way back in time to get food. Now this likely doesn’t happen that often, but as decay goes extremely slow in this cold and dry climate the seals will stay there forever. In the McMurdo Dry Valleys few of these seals are found. Possibly well over a thousand years old and completely mummified. Hundreds of meters inland and nicely conserved. Very special to see.
