Sometimes it’s best just to lie down and wait. Often photographers keep on chasing their targets, possibly disturbing them and rarely ending up with good pictures. In this case I took a different approach. I was just lying down in the sun on Fair Isle deleting a few pictures (I had forgotten to empty my memory card before I started). Suddenly I saw a couple of Ringed Plovers had moved in and were feeding right in front of me. Fortunately I now had a few empty spaces on my camera, so I could take a few shots. Then I had to delete a few more, so I could take more when the came close again. In the end, I was nicely rested and had some nice shots of Ringed Plovers, usually a fairly difficult bird to photograph in their breeding habitat.
