Painting with light

Photography is derived from the Greek words “φωτός” (Photos) and γραφή (Grave), meaning drawing with light. Well, light we have a lot in the Arctic, in summer time 24h a day even. And the sun isn’t that high above the horizon, so the light isn’t that hard. 20170605_Arjen_Drost_45988-HDR

The effect of different light on a photo is best shown by these two pictures. Taken only a few minutes apart, but facing different directions. One facing more or less towards the sun (behind the clouds), the other one facing away from the sun.
