My other passion

Now I’m home for a few days in summer (a rarity for me in recent years) I have time to pick up my other passion: dragonflies. In the past years I was often away for most of the dragonfly season, so there wasn’t much to do for me on that front. But with these two weeks off, I had at least a little time to go.

Banded Darter

As I only really started watching dragonflies after I started studying in Groningen, I only noticed at that point how good the area where I used to live was for dragonflies. Several nice species can be found in that area, like this Banded Demoiselle and Banded Darter. The first is a species for clean, relatively fast flowing streams in open terrain, the later more a southern species that is moving north with the changing climate.
