This year’s hunt was an easy one. After the unsuccessful attempt in Vestfjorden, Iceland in 2013 and the slightly more successful attempt in Vesterålen, Norway in 2014, we now found our first Aurora borealis while driving from the airport to our cottage. The first bands of green light were seen from the car, and when we left the supermarket, the green and red lights were dancing over our heads.

At our cottage, we didn’t spend a lot of time unpacking but went straight to our camera gear and headed outside. It was -10ºC, so we dressed up warm, found a dark spot and pointed our cameras upward. How awesome that it finally worked out, to see superb Aurora with the three of us together (I had seen it several times before while working of course). A great start to our trip! But of course, the hunt continues!
Lucky you – gorgeous!
