One of the top predators of Antarctica is the Leopard Seal. It has the name of being a ferocious predator, even though about half of their diet consists, again, of krill. But the other 50% indeed includes penguins and maybe even other seals.

So far I hadn’t seen any Leopard Seals this whole season, but this trip made up for that. First, we had one swimming by at Stony Point, and during our zodiac cruise near Pleneau Island, we saw many resting on ice floes. Each time we went around another iceberg, we found another Leopard Seal relaxing. Very nice for the passengers, but I must admit, I did enjoy it a lot as well.
