For me, the Atlantic Odyssey -the trip from Ushuaia through the mid-Atlantic to the Cape Verde Islands- was one big dive into the unknown. I’m very much at home on the ship I was sailing on, but I’m used to those ships sailing through cold Polar waters. During the Atlantic Odyssey, we started in the very familiar South Georgia, but after three days of King Penguins, Wandering Albatrosses and Antarctic Fur Seals, it was time to head north.

For the first days towards Gough and Tristan da Cunha, we would still sail through the rich Southern Ocean, but after that the temperatures would go up, and the species richness would go down.
Still something I was really looking forward to!
