During a zodiac cruise close to a glacier, icebergs are always one of the highlights. Apparently, we love those different colours of ice. Apart from humans, Kittiwakes also love icebergs. Probably not for their aesthetic values, but more as a platform to have a little rest.

They like to feed close to glacier fronts. The water close to the glaciers are often very nutrient-rich, due to the glacier runoff that usually brings lots of sediment. These nutrients are used by algae that form the base of the food chain where the Kittiwakes are part of as well. But as you can’t feed all the time, they need a place to rest as well, hence the popularity of icebergs.
