After two days at sea, one of them where we played in the sea ice a little, we arrived in Greenland. Our first stop was the area around Daneborg, the Sirius Patrol headquarters. These Danish special forces patrol the eastern and northern shores of Greenland by dogsled. In couples, they spent two years in the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately, we weren’t allowed to land at their station as they were doing an exercise.

But none the less it was nice to see the station from a distance and even better to enjoy the scenery of the fjord. A little deeper in the fjord, we found the scientific station Zackenberg, but due to ice conditions, it wasn’t possible to land anywhere near that station either. Again, not much of a problem as all guests were clearly enjoying the views of the barren landscape and sea ice as we cruised through the bays. A super welcome to Greenland.

Thanks for this lovely visit to Greenland, Arjen.
