One thing that Greenland has more massive as Spitsbergen are icebergs. This has all to do with the much bigger glaciers and the vast Greenlandic icecap who produce these big bergs. They are not Antarctica-sized yet, but still very impressive.

Each Greenland-trip we try to pass by a few, especially as our captain loves cruising around them. Well, don’t we all… At some places, these bergs get stuck. As 90% of the berg is below the water, the sometimes get grounded or get stuck behind a higher underwater ridge. This gives us the opportunity to have a bit closer look, either with the ship or with the zodiac. In both cases, we keep a respectful distance of course, as you don’t want to be anywhere near these things when they suddenly break apart or disintegrate.
Beautiful, so awesome and scary at the same time.
